“I Drink Diet Coke From The Minute I Get Up To The Minute I Go To Bed” – Karl Lagerfeld
Okay so although I am not advocating that one takes direct inspiration from Karl Lagerfeld here, I wanted to share one of my little diet tips with you.

Okay so as my last post was about my weight-loss epiphanies and such traumas to get me kick-started, I thought I would post about how I actually went about getting in ‘diet mode’. I am someone who struggles with weight loss, I normally get myself motivated for a week or two and then decide it’s all too much, get drunk with my friends and binge on pizza. However, I cannot stress enough – this time, I am determined to make a difference.
So, I have recently had a sort of epiphany about my waistline, this accompanied by some real ‘tough love’ by my father over Easter vacation. I have to say, it is possibly one of the worst moments in your life when a parent sits you down and tells you that you are overweight, to the point where you really need to do something about it; but what makes it 10 times worse, is when you know that they’re right.
I have known for some time that I am overweight; I can’t wear the clothes I long to and I always feel like the odd one out in my group of friends – a feeling deemed ‘fat b**** on the end’ by my sister. My family have battled weight gain brought on by emotional eating for years so now I want to do something to change that.
More often then not New York throws you a curve ball, the way that you deal with it is what defines you and your ambitions in life. I would have said that back in the UK I wasn’t really a risk taker; but making the decision to move to New York and attempt a whole new life has made me one. Risks can lead to rewards but also to failures, in my opinion, dealing with both is what makes you a strong person…
Wayne Gretzky is correct, if you never take the risk, you will never find the opportunity. Risks vary in this city, it can be to go to a bar that’s not your usual (will the new bartender like you enough to offer you a buy-back?!), or it can be the decision to alter a career path from what you think you wanted or a life goal, say to lose 35 lbs with a lifestyle change that will keep it off.
I’m not someone that preaches you should take risks everyday to feel alive; that the best achievers in life are those that risked everything in order to become everything. Instead, I would say be open to taking a risk if you truly believe you have the drive to make it pay off. Taking a chance brings a new energy into the mix, and it may well be that energy that ends up being the driving force to where you need to be!
Earlier today I shared a joke with my sister that had me in stitches; I know you aren’t supposed to laugh at your own material but I felt it was worth sharing. Here is one of my many action plans for losing weight and getting bikini ready…
